My story

Hi! My name is Ollie, and I am IN LOS ANGELES looking for my forever home! I was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by DoVE Project. My fate would have been to live in fear and distress, watching dogs being led to slaughter for human consumption. DoVE Project heard about me, and now I am looking for my forever family! ID/NAME: Ollie 19-154.1 SEX/WEIGHT/AGE: Male / 40lbs / 6 years old BIRTH DATE: 3/1/2019 BREED: JIndo VACCINATIONS/SPAY/NEUTER/HEALTH: Vaccines up to date / Neutered / Very Healthy BACKGROUND: Ollie was adopted in 2019. According to his family, he was a wonderful addition to their family. Unfortunately, Ollie and their other dog started to have significant conflicts, creating an unstable environment in their home. This situation is particularly concerning for them since they recently welcomed a baby. Meet Ollie! 🐾 Ollie is a smart, active, and energetic dog who loves going for walks and playing ball. He enjoys chasing rodents in the backyard and is incredibly loyal and protective of his family, making him a wonderful companion. Ollie is a great house dog who appreciates peace and quiet. He has a cat-like personality, valuing his alone time but also enjoying neck rubs and giving kisses. He is a great listener and knows commands like "sit" and "stay." While he is not much of a barker, he will alert you to someone at the door if the doorbell rings. Ollie loves his owners and enjoys being close to them. He would thrive with an active family who enjoys outdoor adventures like hikes and long walks, but also understands his need for independence. Ollie would do best with an experienced owner familiar with the Jindo breed. If you are looking for a loyal, intelligent companion, Ollie might be the perfect match! ABOUT JINDOS Jindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean and easily housetrained, and are faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, going on hikes, and joining the family on trips. ABOUT SHELTER STRESS Dogs who have lived in shelters for a long time develop behaviors due to an environment that is loud, chaotic, and stressful, even in the best shelters in the US. Dogs in shelters have limited socialization exposure to people and urban environments. DoVE dogs also come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors. ********************************* DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. In the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names.
