My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact MSt for more information about this pet. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Hi I’m Abbie!  I bet you will notice two very distinct features when you look at me. The first is my intense dark stripes running down my back and the circular swirls on each side of my body.  From what they tell me, this coat pattern is called a ‘classic tabby’. Sounds pretty fancy, but I think it makes me especially adorable. The second feature you probably noticed is that I have a clipped ear tip.  I was part of a program called TNR (trap-neuter-return) which helps identify feral or community cats. The clipped ear is the universally recognized symbol of a cat who has been spayed or neutered and vaccinated. Don’t worry I didn’t feel a thing as this was all done while I was under anesthesia.  While I was having my procedure the staff recognized that I did not seem like a feral or barn cat. I allowed them to hold me and even rubbed my head on their hands asking for pets. The decision was made to not return me outside, but instead  give me a chance at finding my forever home as an indoor cat.  This is where ARF came along and rescued me in hopes of making this dream come true.  I will admit I was a little sassy with my foster mom in the beginning and I may have hissed a few times.  But I’ve come a long way since then  and continue to work on my manners and social skills. I greet my foster mom now with excitement every time she enters my room and I immediately jump on her lap.  I especially enjoy the chin scratches and ear rubs she gives and will always nudge for more.  Laying in her lap is truly my favorite place to be especially when it’s time to get cozy for one of my many naps.   My foster Mom also introduced me to all sorts of kitty toys and cat towers. Wow, I didn’t have lasers, balls, wand toys and play mice when I lived outside.  I’m thinking it might be fun to have a confident kitty friend in my forever home to show me the ropes when it comes to exploring all these new things.  Unfortunately, I am not a big fan of the dog in my foster home.   I could possibly change my mind and the people at ARF can let you know if so. Abbie  is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations,  spayed, and litter box trained. Abbie's adoption fee is $135.  If you are interested in meeting  Abbie, please fill out our Online Application today!   Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! July 7, 2025, 10:31 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Abbie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
