My story

Meet Mew – A Quirky Little Soul With a Big Heart Mew isn’t the kind of dog who rushes into love. She takes her time, learns your rhythms, and slowly lets you in. But once you’ve earned her trust, you’ll discover one of the most loyal, affectionate companions you could ever hope for. This young Chi/Terrier/Dachshund mix may be small in size, but her personality is unmistakably one of a kind. She’s got a soft spot for stuffy toys and Benebones, and nothing makes her happier than a slow, sniff-filled walk where she can take in the world on her terms. These “sniffaris” aren’t just fun—they’ve helped her build confidence and support her ongoing potty training, which is already coming along beautifully. Mew is pee-pad trained, crate trained, and making steady progress with housetraining. She thrives on structure and routine, and she’s already made huge strides with her reactivity thanks to some supportive tools and a daily Fluoxetine regimen. With time and gentle consistency, she’s learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. Mew's ideal home is a quiet one—no young children, no other pets, and limited visitors. But in the right environment, she truly blossoms. She’ll happily snuggle in your lap for hours, sleep soundly in her crate, and follow you from room to room just to feel close. When guests do visit, she’ll do best being crated at first, slowly warming up with your guidance. What Mew needs most is someone kind. Someone who doesn’t mind moving at her pace, who understands that love from a shy dog is something earned—and all the more special because of it. She’s not looking for perfection. Just patience, and a soft place to land. Are you the one she’s been waiting for? Apply to foster or adopt Mew and show her what real love feels like. Adoption is $350, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mew, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
