My story

Big welcome to Ruger, a sweet and soulful pup who’s brand new to our program! After a stressful experience, Ruger came to us from Kerrville and spent less than a day at the shelter before settling into his temporary foster home. At first, he seemed a bit unsure—but within just 20 minutes of arriving, this big softie completely melted into his foster family’s arms. Ruger is an absolute lovebug with a heart as smushy as his cuddles. Ruger quickly bonded with his foster’s 6-year-old child, showing just how gentle, loving, and affectionate he is. He’s happiest when he’s close to his people—curling up on top of you, nudging your hands for pets, and snoozing wherever you are. He’s a loyal companion who just wants to be by your side. He already knows basic commands like “sit,” “lay down,” and responds to his name. Around the house, Ruger is quiet and relaxed, and he’s shown wonderful house manners overall. He enjoys both dry and wet food, loves treats, and occasionally enjoys playing with toys too. Ruger is working on his training and making great progress as he settles into his new routine. He enjoys outdoor time and would love a home with a securely fenced yard where he can explore and lounge in the sun. Ruger is looking for a home filled with love, patience, and snuggles—he’s ready to give his whole heart to a family of his own.
