My story

Meet Mama Birdie! This beautiful girl is smart and sweet, with the softest coat. She was found as a stray in Texas with her puppy (who has since been adopted!) and has spent the past few months experiencing the comforts of a home for the first time in her young life. Birdie has come such a long way since she made her journey to Buffalo. She is a champion of stairs, fully crate trained, potty trained, and loves to play with her dog friends. However, this mama is still timid of new people, loud noises, and too much stimulation. She is not fear reactive, but will run and hide if she feels scared. Due to her anxiety, she is not yet leash trained (she tolerates her harness and leash well, but the unpredictability of the sidewalk is too much for her right now), so she will require a home with a fenced yard for potty time. The ideal home for Birdie will have at least one canine sibling that can bring her out of her shell and help her learn to be a dog! After a nice slow intro, there is nothing she loves more than romping and wrestling outside with her dog friends. We think she would be okay with older children who can be calm, quiet and patient with her. She has not been tested with cats.  Birdie proves that good things take time. She will need a quiet, patient home that understands she will need plenty of time to blossom and come out of her shell. Once you earn her trust, there's nothing like seeing her tail wags when she greets you, and leaning into your hand for more ear scritches.  Birdie is approximately 35 pounds, 1.5 years old, crate trained, and fully potty trained (no middle of the night wake ups here!). If you are looking for a smart Aussie mix with a lot of love to give, Birdie might just be the girl for you. Apply at www.buffalounderdogs.com/adopt  ##2451840##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mama Birdie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
