My story

Meet FlufferNutter, also known as Cash in his foster home. This resilient 3-year-old has been through a lot, but he hasn’t lost his loving heart or joyful spirit. Cash came to BARCS after being found injured and ultimately had to have a back leg amputated. Despite everything, he has proven to be a strong, affectionate, and happy boy who is ready to find his forever family. In his foster home, Cash has shown himself to be playful, curious, and people-oriented. His favorite thing in the world is snuggling, especially with his foster’s mom. The very first time he climbed onto the couch and curled up next to her was a moment his foster family won’t forget—it showed how much he craves trust and love. He adores head scratches and pets, and once he bonds with you, he becomes a loyal and affectionate companion.Cash has been enjoying playtime with Dottie, the resident dog in his foster home. The two became fast friends, and Cash seems happiest when paired with a gentle, calm canine companion. He has also started to discover the fun of chasing balls and playing games, though his favorite pastime is still soaking up attention from people. On walks, Cash is still finding his rhythm. Sometimes he gets excited when he sees other dogs, but with redirection he calms down quickly. Because of the amputation of his rear left leg, he occasionally pauses to rest or prefers to go at his own pace. He will thrive with a patient adopter who is willing to let him take walks slowly and comfortably.Cash is crate trained and appears to be housebroken. He is learning sit and stay, listens to a firm but gentle “no,” and is eager to please. With an energy level of about seven out of ten, he enjoys bursts of play followed by lounging on the deck or snuggling up indoors. He can be shy with strangers at first, but once he warms up, his friendly and sweet personality shines through. He has shown that he bonds quickly with his trusted people and loves to be part of a calm, gentle household. The perfect home for Cash will be one that allows him to settle in at his own pace and shower him with the love he deserves. He is a dog who truly thrives on connection and will reward his family with loyalty, affection, and endless snuggles.I`m a VIP because I`m still learning, and the shelter can be a tough place for dogs like me to shine. But I’ve got a whole team cheering me on!Here are a few things the staff and volunteers are helping me with
