Meet Little Bit Looking for a snuggle bug who loves laps and cozy time together? Little Bit is your guy! Little Bit (LB) came from Texas in early May. He is 9 years old and about 14 lbs. He has completed heartworm treatment and now has a clean bill of health! He is a Chi Weenie (Chihuahua and Dachshund) mix. He has lived comfortably with the 60 pound, 12 y/o, lab-mix resident dog. He lived with cats when he was in Texas and was great around them. He also used to live with children and did well with them. The ideal family would have someone who is home more than not home. He is loyal. He loves his person. It takes a bit for him to warm up to others. He wasn’t a fan of men, but with a little patience and a few treats he warmed up. He does well on a leash and has used a harness. We have used the crate in the home, but he has also done well when left alone. He has his own bed next to his human’s bed, but he prefers to cuddle under the blankets. I believe he can be trained to stay in his own bed. Given he is a dog with 9 years of life, it takes a bit to figure a few things out. But he is smart and has learned our daily routine pretty quickly. He is a good boy 😊. He knows basic commands. A secure, fenced yard would be ideal. Little Bit would love to meet you! Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping. In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process. If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application. Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Little Bit, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
