Helen is a strikingly beautiful young mother. For the first period of her life she was surviving on her own, on the streets. A good samaritan began feeding her and created a safe environment for her to sleep when she visited. Not knowing how much prior contact Helen had with humans (and if it was positive or not), her caregiver gave her space to see what her comfort level was. However, after a little while she noticed that Helen was pregnant and called us for our help. Helen was taken to the vet and then sent to her foster home to prepare for her upcoming labor and delivery. Turns out we got her just in time – Helen gave birth to three perfect babies the next evening in the safety and comfort of her new foster home. Helen was the absolute best mom ever. Even when her babies were over two months old, she still doted on them. She would simply close her eyes in exasperation when they would gang up on her while playing. Helen is still apprehensive about trusting humans. She went from living on her own, straight into depths of protective mama mode. She hasn’t quite learned that she can relax and calmly enjoy a life of being adored. She runs to her foster mom in greeting, purring and happy to see her, but she still is obviously jumpy and untrusting of new people, new noises and sudden movements. The desire to be loved is definitely there. But her ability to trust new people is still lacking. Helen is a rare, unique collection of several different coat patterns – including dilute torti, orange tabby and grey tabby. You have to see her in person to fully realize how gorgeous she is. Update from Helen’s foster mom: Helen continues to charm me with her silly playfulness and her sweet purrs and snuggles. She has definitely formed a strong bond with me, and I have total confidence that she will make a loving, affectionate companion for her adopter. Is there someone out there willing to forego the immediate gratification of a kitten’s innocent trust and give Helen a chance? It may take her a while to learn to trust you, but the reward is worth it - as I have experienced firsthand.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Helen, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
