My story

Say Hi to Smudge, our oh-so-cute 1.5-year-old bully mix! Found wandering near a cemetery by the airport, Smudge was discovered lounging on the side of a dirt road, a little apprehensive about the noise from the planes ?? above. Fortunately, a kind officer came to his rescue, patiently coaxing him with tasty treats and gentle words until he trusted her enough to put a leash on him and bring him to safety.Since arriving at the shelter 45 days ago, Smudge has filled our hearts with gratitude ?? in return for all the love and care he has received. While he may be a bit nervous in new situations, especially when meeting other dogs, his trust can be earned quickly, revealing his sweet personality. Smudge takes treats so gently, showcasing his kind nature. He has been working with the Highland K9 and is starting to master his sit command. Smudge walks well on a leash and loves joining playgroups with other dogs. He`s what we describe as a gentle and dainty player, acting like a hall monitor who lets the other dogs know when they`re getting too rough. Now that he`s settled in and made plenty of friends, we`re starting to see Smudge`s playful and silly side, complete with lots of tail wags, zoomies, and a wiggly butt! We`ve also discovered that he is a cuddle bug and loves to lean on our volunteer dog walkers for lots of pets and attention.If you`re looking for a furry companion who will offer you unconditional love and lots of affection, come meet Smudge at the shelter and see just how wonderful he is! Smudge`s adoption FEE is waived, and includes 2 FREE in-person training sessions with Highland K9 training to help him transition into his new home.
