My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children.I have potential behavior challenges that staff will address with you when you meet me.Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.I can go home today!Squirrel has made an excellent improvement since her first assessment. She has good energy, is slightly jumpy, but very friendly and loves to push and rub against the assessor. She arches her back and leans in for cheek rubs with a high tail and an arched back when petted along it. She was calm when held and remained so when set back down, although she is a little bit excitable. But she didn't escalate. In her previous assessment, she had a tendency to overstimulate, and that behavior seems to have resolved. When people are cleaning her kennel she can become upset.Squirrel interacts with the observer, solicits and appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with either an average amount of cat experience or demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior. Due to the behavior shown in the past, she may not be a great fit for young children. Any future home with children should be counseled in respecting the cat's space and for the family to use care when picking her up, especially while she is still adjusting to her new home. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.
