Greetings, I am the one and only TRIO - tadaaah - and here's a bit about me:Breed: Saluki/German Shepherd MixAge: 3.5 yearsGender: MaleWeight: 20 kgCurrent Location: Greater Vancouver, BCHighlights: tripaw, social, calm, playful, love people If you are a human looking for a loving companion, I'm your guy. If you like to visit dog parks, I'm also a social guy with other dogs, as I thoroughly enjoy playing with other dogs. I live with a bigger dog than me and he and I love to play with each other, often with "gusto" some might say, but we are just having fun. Both of us greatly enjoy each other's company.Of course, I also enjoy adventures away from home too, but with only one front leg, my hiking stamina is a bit limited. I do enjoy my neighbourhood walks, however. I used to pull a bit on the leash, but my foster dad says that a halti worked wonders and now I don't even need to use it. I love kids too, but I'm probably better in a family with teens and adults. Little kids can be quite unpredictable and sudden behaviours can scare me. While I haven’t been cat-tested, it's expected I will do well with proper introductions.I am great with human visitors to my longterm foster home, except the odd quirk of wariness with unique folks - like workers in hard hats, covid masks and people carrying things that look like weapon or sticks. In the Middle East where I was born, I was submitted to indescribable treatment, including having my leg severed. I have come a long way since then, however. I do indeed enjoy meeting new people but, please don't rush me. Show me your marvelous calm energy and I will welcome you to my home. If I am uncomfortable, I could show you my discomfort by voicing my fears, but this is just a nervous reaction. I have never bitten or caused harm. Just give me a little time to acclimate.I am house-trained and well-mannered and I feel very proud of that. I walk well on a leash, but can get animated when I see other dogs. Heck, I just want to go greet my new friend. At the dog park, I usually only bark at other high energy dogs or runners. I also show my happiness when I come to a lovely grassy area, as I just love to roll on that soft surface.I sleep well, I share my home space with another dog, and I have no separation anxiety. I bond deeply with my people, so I am very excited about finding my forever home.I am best suited for a dog-sensitive adopter who understands the importance of positive reinforcement and calm introductions. Like most dogs, I will benefit from a smooth transition plan into a new home to help me to build trust and confidence.I am continuously learning and improving. Continued leash and greeting training will help you realize how capable I am. If you are willing to give me the time to decompress and settle into my new home, I will show you what a loving pup I can be. Just give me a calm petting and I'll be your loyal four-footed. I look forward to you being my trusted two-footed. Here are additional vids of me: https://youtu.be/L3LEBooVrIE, https://youtu.be/_MLwbCeVRe8, https://youtu.be/hNyC6g3tYEI, https://youtu.be/ecNZ31JTwko. Energy Level: moderateI get along with:Dogs: yes, after proper introductionsCats: unknown, though possiblyKids: to be considered on an individual basis Fears: some fear/anxiety of - motorcycles, strangers who are different (like the utility people with hard hats and tools, strangers coming in with COVID masks, people acting unpredictably.) Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: Some. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new setting. Health notes: Anal sac abscess summer 2024. Received required surgery. Per veterinary recommendation, sacs were removed to prevent any chronic issue. Fully recovered and no ongoing medical concerns related to this condition.I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. Grand news, I have a sponsor who will donate $100 towards my adoption fee plus a $50 gift certificate to a pet store. How sweet is that? Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1757097##
