My story

Jameson is not your typical rescue dog—and that’s exactly why someone out there is going to fall for him, hard. Let’s get it out of the way now because that face is handsome and you might have fell for that but looks are not everything, especially with this sweet boy. He is, in every sense, a project. He is quiet, observant, and emotionally guarded but we are so proud of that because he has been a slow bloom from a place where he was nothing. If you watched his video you know- his beginning with us, started at what was going to be his end. See it here if you haven't watched -- https://youtu.be/Tj4R4VmPXL0 He was in an over-capacity shelter and his time was up and our community rallied to get him a foster home to save him from that end. That was almost a year and a half ago. He was in survival mode and had lost hope, it was truly heart-breaking. Now I get to tell you about all the love that has been poured into him, the powerful push of hope behind him and the beautiful progress he has made since that day. If you weren’t on the edge of tears watching his video, reading more about him may just push you to a few sniffles. A quick moment for his “specs” keep in mind he is a rescue and we cannot guarantee age or breed but we believe Jameson is about 2.5 years old and is possibly a golden retriever/lab mix. He is fully grown and weighs 54 lbs . Perfect mid-size Goldie boy! Is Jameson a cuddly dog? No. Will he be one day? Maybe. But truthfully, that’s not why you adopt a dog like him. You adopt Jameson because you see value in the quiet process of transformation. The beauty of knowing you are healing something you can’t see. Because you’re willing to let a dog take the time they need to feel safe—no deadline and no agenda. Because you find meaning in routine, in gentle coexistence, and in celebrating the small wins: a soft glance, a moment of stillness beside you, hearing a tail wag in the corner from the corner of the room. If you’re the kind of person who gets more joy from earning trust than from instant affection, Jameson might be one of the most rewarding companions you’ll ever meet. Jameson isn’t affectionate, not in the way most people expect. He won’t greet you at the door, climb in your lap, or follow you from room to room. What he will do is melt into your pack of dogs, follow there lead through the house and backyard, get on the couch if another dogs does, and never add to chaos no matter what type it is. He is a peace bringer. Dogs are essential to Jameson’s world—one or a few, this is key to his sense of security and an immediate boost to his confidence. And because he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body aka no conflict drive, he can be surrounded by dominant, energetic, or chaotic dogs and simply navigates around them like a quiet ghost. He’s been in playgroups with other dogs, never joined in for the rough and rowdy or chase, but calmly tolerated the energy and movement. He prefers the edges of the action—watching, sniffing, maybe following—but never instigating. Jameson has been living in a loving and structured foster home which is key to his incredible growth and allows us a wonderful view into what his ideal home will look like. His foster shared that he is house trained and something we rarely say, crate-adoring! He truly loves his crate—it’s his safe zone and you can set a watch by a routine once he has learned it. In his foster home, his human leaves for work at 2–3 a.m. every day, and Jameson learned that was potty time. So imagine how funny it was when he was visiting another home and his internal alarm clock went off and he couldn’t figure out why the routine was off. His temporary foster quickly realized, he knew his schedule and wanted to stick to it. This is a dog who thrives on predictability, and breaking that pattern throws him off, but if you love consistency and routine, you have met your dog. It may take a bit to reset his current “settings” but that’s just part of the project. While he’s still a work in progress, he’s started to show signs of trust, comfort, and even the beginnings of curiosity. Realizing that curiosity can only come when a dog feels safe is really incredibly sweet to watch. Using his nose around a room we were in together made me insanely happy, because with these dogs, its the little things. With new people he will come up to sniff, on his terms, maybe linger, but currently he won’t stay long. If you reach out to touch him he may slowly back out of it but other times he will stay for a bit, then walk off slowly. It may seem like a given but lets acknowledge that Jameson is not the dog for kids, and apartment life is a no thank you. Jameson does need, a home with other dogs (non-negotiable, a quiet, routine-driven environment, and a secure yard and a person with patience, humor, and empathy. It took a whole lot of people to get him here but it will only take one to get him home. Ready to apply? Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes. Follow our rescue journey through the links below! https://www.threelittlepittiesrescue.org/ https://www.facebook.com/threelittlepittiesrescue https://www.instagram.com/threelittlepittiesrescue *Due to the rising cost of fuel and transportation expenses, there will be an additional $62 surcharge for transport.
