My story

Are you looking for a feisty little firecracker who will stick to you like glue, intrepidly dogging your steps like a cute, frosting faced shadow? Look no further than Abbey, a beautiful black long-hair chihuahua, possibly mixed with pom if her adorable face is any indication, whose delightful joie de vivre bleeds through every interaction. This sweetheart wants nothing more than to sit in your lap for a cuddle, and she excitedly rolls over when asking for scratches. Abbey is patient on car rides, very open to pets and cuddles and handling, and gets along famously with the other mutts. This sweet pup doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, she has such a positive aura and cute little smile (with a tongue exposed in a perpetual blep, giving her a comical expression) that it’s hard to feel anything other than pleased around her. Her teeny tippy taps and bouncy little walk make her the perfect companion for your weekly errands. If you need a cute ebony mutt to provide you your daily moment of zen, please come meet Abbey today! Here's some notes from her foster: Abbey is a peppy pup with a lush coat, a cute little frosted muzzle and an adorable overbite that you only get to see when she lays upside down! She enjoys going for walks and keeps up a decent pace - sometime breaking out into a little jog. She also enjoys taking lots of naps at home, splitting her time between cool wood floors and cozy dog beds. Every once in a while, her goofy and playful side comes out and it's time for some scampering followed up with a flop onto the ground for belly scratches. She ignores our cat and is quiet in the home. She's a friendly and happy girl, but still likes to give a few feisty barks when she sees larger dogs on our walks. I think it's her way of letting them know that she isn't scared of them in the least! She eats well and sleeps soundly through the nights in her own bed (with occasional spells on the wood floor when she gets too warm). She can handle a few steps, but needs to be carried for an entire flight of stairs. Abbey is house trained and doesn't seem to have any issues being left alone. She gets a little antsy in the car at times, though I suspect that's because she'd prefer to be in a lap rather than being secured in a dog bed. We've only had a few car rides with her, so it could just be a matter of getting used to them. She's been a very easy houseguest and we're enjoying our time with this sweetie!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Abbey 13104, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
