Location: Annandale,Va About: Crook Let me introduce you to my foster and retired hunting dog, Crook. This 28 lb sweetie came up to OPH from Alabama with a heart of gold 💛. The vet guesses him to be an 8 year old beagle mix. Those soulful eyes seen some rough times as he has a crooked tail (hence, I think that is where he got his name). But those bad days have not affect his trusting disposition. Crook... > is affectionate (places his head in your lap and STARES at you like you are the only one in the world), easygoing (likes to lounge), and lovable (follows. you everywhere) > is fantastic on leash. We take leisurely walks thru the parkland with him by my side looking towards me to make sure I'm still there, > appears house/potty trained. While taking his heartworm treatment medication, he has had a couple of accidents in the house > not a fan of the crate but he does fine outside the crate. He does sleep soundly in the crate at night (that's his routine) > has done well with kids and loves being around people 👨👩👧👦 all the time > is very food 🍖 motivated and is working on the sit and touch command. > tends to fall hard for his owner/care taker and creates a strong bond with them. He would do best with a large family and one that is home most of the time. Although he is enjoying his retirement, Crook still has plenty of energy ⚡ and gets along great with other dogs 🐕 big and small. He is looking for his forever family! Is that with you? If so please hit the apply button. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read about heartworm disease here: Read more about heartworm disease at https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Crook , please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
