Meet one of the Summer Solstice Litter! This little one is one of nine puppies who were taken by animal control from a neglect situation. The puppies apparently are from two different litters born about a week apart. One mother (British Shepherd/Lab mix) is very old and had no business having puppies again, poor thing. The other mom (a brown and white Australian Shepherd) was hit and killed by a car when the puppies were about 7-8 weeks old. The dad of both litters is believed to be an a German Shepherd Dog who lived up the road from the two moms. Aurora is special needs at the moment because she came in unable to walk on her back legs. Initially our vet thought it was anemia from losing so much blood to ticks, and she did start to walk a little after some iron supplements, but a couple of days later she still was not right and had x-rays. It seems she had been hit by a car (maybe at the same time as the mama dog -- we do not know) and her pelvis is broken. She is currently on strict crate rest and will have more x-rays regularly to see if any improvement is seen. She may need surgery to correct it -- we just do not know yet. She is extremely loving and cuddly and appreciates all the attention she can get since she is not allowed to run (or even walk much) for the time being. She is otherwise healthy and happy and we just want her to get better! The puppies were 7-8 weeks old on arrival at JoJo's and we have given them all an estimated date of birth of April 25, 2025. They came in a little rough, covered in ticks and full of worms. But all have been treated and are thriving now in a clean, comfortable environment, getting healthy food. They are super sweet and love people and each other. We expect they will be medium to large size adult dogs depending on which mom they had. The puppies are 9-10 weeks old now, and have been using the doggy door in their puppy house consistently and never potty in their little house, so while we can't declare them for sure to be housebroken, they do have a great jump start on it. If you think you might want to give this sweet pup a home, please email jojosdogrescue@gmail.com and we will send you an application, or visit our website: www.jojosdoghouse.com and download one. Adoption fee is $250, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, parasite treatment, and microchip with lifetime registration. Please visit our Facebook page JoJo's DogHouse (non-profit) to learn more about us and see many of the dogs we have rescued. We hope you'll join JoJo's family of adopters!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Aurora, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
