My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Meet Cobbler, a 2–3 year old Schnauzer-Basset type mix with the softest coat, the shortest legs, and the biggest heart. At about 25 lbs, this long and low boy may have been overlooked at the shelter, but the moment we met him, we knew he was something special. The shelter staff adored him, and it’s easy to see why— he’s gentle, sweet, and simply the best boy.   Cobbler is a calm, quiet companion who has settled beautifully into his foster home. He enjoys a leisurely routine: morning and evening walks (he’s great on a leash, though he occasionally pauses for a reflective moment), lounging in the sunroom, and taking his meals with mild interest— unless wet food is involved, in which case he gets quite enthusiastic. He’s perfectly potty trained and hasn’t had a single accident since he arrived.   He’s not overly clingy, but he’ll let you know he’s happy to see you with a soft tail wag and a sweet little stand-up greeting. He likes to be near you and will sometimes follow you around, especially if you're gardening (he takes his food-hiding business very seriously). He gets a kick out of burying snacks in leaves and is surprisingly fond of sweet potatoes and cream cheese.   Cobbler is very mellow and polite around other dogs on walks and doesn’t bark unless he has a very good reason (and even then, it’s rare). He’d thrive in a home with a bit of space to wander, a couch to lounge on, and humans who appreciate the quiet companionship of a gentle soul.   He may not beg for attention, but Cobbler will absolutely win your heart with his sweet nature, soulful eyes, and those occasional stares that seem to say, “I’m just happy to be here.” And honestly, we’re just as happy to have him. Plus, he gives the cutest little kisses!   Adopt Cobbler and give this very good boy the forever home he so deeply deserves.July 1, 2025, 3:29 pm
