My story

Pixie is a 10 mo old, 9 lb maltese who was being turned in to the shelter when we happened to be there to rescue another dog.  We intercepted her.  When we asked the woman why she was giving her up, her answer was "she pees in the house."  She clearly thought housebreaking was something all dogs were born knowing, so therefore Pixie must be defective.    We're happy to say Pixie had no problem getting housebroken.  One important thing Pixie did not have the benefit of was socialization.  She's very skittish around strangers however does not try to bite.  We are working on helping build her self-confidence and she has improved immensely.  She bonded quickly with her foster and is playful and energetic and very affectionate.  She loves toys and greeting her trusted humans throughout the day and enjoys belly rubs.  She is just learning to walk on a leash so will need help in her progression.  She travels well in the car and doesn't make a peep.  Pixie loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a young, playful dog.  Having a playmate and a yard is a MUST.  Pixie is spayed, has all her shots and is microchipped.  If you're interested please fill out the adoption application on our website bichonsandbuddies.com.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 1, 2025, 2:30 am
