My story

Meet Octavia – Your Future Cuddle Queen with a Sensitive Soul Introducing Octavia, a striking brindle beauty with a heart as tender as her eyes. With a darker face and a gaze full of compassion, this little girl is ready to trade in the tough streets of St. Louis for a life of love, belly rubs, and chin scratches. Octavia and her sister Victra were found as strays, navigating the world alone until a foster spot opened up with Players for Pits. Since then, she's been blossoming in her new foster home, learning what it means to be safe, cared for, and part of a family. She's still learning, but every day she comes a little more out of her shell—and when she does, her loving and curious personality shines. This sweet pup thrives with other dogs around. She looks to her sister and foster siblings for guidance, often watching and then trying something new when prompted. For this reason, Octavia would do best in a home with another dog who can show her the ropes and help boost her confidence. She hasn't been tested with cats, but she did great with baby chickens nearby—never once trying to get past the gates that separated them. She also wasn’t particularly interested in free-range chickens outside. Octavia recently met a 7-year-old and had so much fun! But because of her sensitive personality, she would do best with older children or kids who are patient and gentle, letting her warm up at her own pace. She’s the kind of pup who would happily tag along on a hike or to a baseball game one day—and then spend the next curled up on the couch snuggled in your lap. She’s currently working on potty training and learning “sit”, and she's already a perfect angel in her crate. When Octavia discovered belly rubs, chin scratches, and ear rubs were part of her new life, it was a game-changer. She’ll now paw gently at you when she’s ready for her favorite snuggles—and trust us, it’s impossible to say no.
