My story

Meet Maize Maize is a sweet, calm, and gentle girl who wants nothing more than to be near her people. She’s an easygoing companion with a mellow personality and a heart full of love. Maize does well in her kennel and will go in willingly when asked. She may bark a little if she can’t see her human, but she settles down quickly. She’s quiet by nature so quiet, in fact, you may not even notice she’s following you until you turn around! She walks nicely on a leash and rides well in the car, though she does need a lift to get in and out of vehicles and up on the couch. Once on the sofa, she’ll happily cuddle right up next to you. Maize loves to nap and will keep an eye on you, moving from room to room as you go about your day. She’s truly a Velcro pup in the best way. Maize has been great with older kids and does wonderfully with other dogs. She currently lives with four dogs ranging in age from 3 to 14 years old, and in size from 15 to 55 pounds she gets along with them all. She recently discovered the joy of carrying a bone, and it’s been adorable to watch her little milestones. Her activity level is very low her favorite workout is a slow trot back to the porch. She has asthma and takes prednisone twice a day, which keeps her comfortable and helps prevent coughing. The medication can affect her weight, but she has already slimmed down a bit in her foster home. If she overexerts herself, she may cough a little, but overall she’s been doing very well with her current routine. Maize is an easy keeper: she doesn’t shed much, is quiet around visitors, and just wants a calm home where someone is around most of the time. She’s incredibly loyal, friendly, and sweet with a tail that always seems to be wagging for her humans. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who’s happiest curled up at your side, Maize might just be the perfect fit.
