You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.SAFFRON hails from the Northern community of Mishkeegogamang and came south with his siblings (Fennel, Cardamom, Anise and Zout) to find his forever family. He’s UTD on his vaccines including his rabies shot, a microchip, a few doses of dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. We have a picture of his mum and she’s a white Husky of around 50lbs and we can only assume dad was a Yellow Lab due to the colouring of 2 of his siblings plus due to the lovely personalities of this litter. Dad’s breed is just a guess though and we really don’t know his breed or what size he was. This young guy is all Husky and we are looking for a Husky experienced owner for him. He’s very loving and good natured but definitely has a stubborn Husky streak to him. SAFFRON is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also nap in it during the day too. He’s virtually house trained and will go to the door when he wants a bathroom break. He loves to go on walks and he goes regularly as he has lots of puppy energy to burn off. He ‘s actually now being fostered with our puppy trainer and is getting a specialized puppy course to help him be the best boy he can be. It also means that he’s met lots of different dogs of all breeds and sizes so he’s well socialized with lots of them. He was fostered with a cat in his earlier foster home and he would chase her around but was gentle with her and was never rough. He should do well with a cat in the home as long as it’s a cat savvy dog and as always we recommend a slow, monitored introduction between them while the dog is kept leashed. Se do need children to be aged 8 years of age and up plus they should be gentle and loving towards animals. SAFFRON’s ideal family would be an active one with a love and understanding of Huskies and all that comes with the breed. Plus be an active one that loves to go on big walks and hikes in the woods. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. We always recommend a slow, monitored introduction to other animals in the home while the new dog is kept leashed. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided be’s not left alone for long periods of time. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe and also have somewhere to run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to continue his puppy/obedience training to help him continue to be the best boy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a photo of him (preferably in his cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week. If SAFFRON sounds like he’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.
