My story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 06/04/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Raleigh Puppy Mill bust Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sydney is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Sydney arrived in rescue with very dirty ears from unsanitary living conditions. Her ears were deep cleaned while under sedation for spay. Sydney is a goldendoodle (her mom Fiona arrived in rescue with her). She is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Sydney and all the dogs she arrived in rescue with have been exposed to mange and are being treated proactively. She was also treated for giardia.  Weight: 38 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Sydney knows nothing about walking on a leash. She requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Sweet Sydney is a young dog with little life experience. Part of the recent Raleigh Puppy Mill Bust, we can only assume that she wasn't sold as a baby because someone wanted to breed her. Sydney needs experience. And patience. And calm. She has so much potential. What helps Sydney the most is another dog. She truly thrives with a confident canine companion—especially puppies and small dogs, who bring out her nurturing and playful side. They help her feel less alone, and they teach her the rhythm of daily life in a way that feels natural and comforting. In fact, a doggy friend is a must for Sydney—she finds courage in their presence, and their companionship brings her joy. Sydney has been around children before, but she hasn’t yet discovered the love and comfort they can offer. Because the world still feels overwhelming at times, she would do best in a quiet home with gentle energy—one that moves slowly, speaks softly, and meets her with patience instead of pressure. What is my personality like? Meet Sydney – A Gentle Heart Ready to Bloom. Sydney is a beautiful Goldendoodle with soft fur and even softer eyes—the kind that quietly ask, “Is it safe to trust you” After spending the first years of her life secluded from the world, Sydney is just beginning to discover what it means to be a pet, to be loved, and to feel safe. And now, she's looking for a family who can patiently guide her through this brand-new chapter, one gentle step at a time. Sydney’s world has always been small, and the things many dogs take for granted—walks, pets, playtime, kind voices—are still unfamiliar to her. But deep inside, she wants to understand them. She wants to connect. She wants to be part of something loving and safe. She just needs someone willing to show her how. In fact, leash skills are completely foreign to her right now. A leash feels strange and uncertain, and she doesn’t yet understand what it means to walk alongside someone who loves her. But with time, patience, and encouragement, she’ll learn. What she needs most is someone who sees these challenges not as obstacles, but as opportunities to help her grow. Sydney is not broken—she’s just learning. Learning that people can be kind. That homes can be safe. That she matters. If you have a calm heart, a loving home, and a resident pup who wouldn’t mind showing Sydney the ropes, you could be the family she’s been waiting for. Her journey won’t always be easy—but it will be beautiful. And it will be so worth it. How do I act when I first meet new people? She’s not the dog who will come bounding into your lap on day one. But if you give her time and space, she’ll start to bloom. Her trust, once earned, is deep and loyal. Her love is quiet but powerful. And her small victories—accepting a treat from your hand, choosing to sit beside you, wagging her tail for the first time—will feel like the biggest wins. Other tips and tidbits: Sydney was estimated at 1 year old when she arrived in rescue. We celebrate her birthday 06/04/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. June 29, 2025, 8:59 am
