My story

(DOB 04/22/2025) Due to Barkley’s young age, he has not yet been neutered. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within a 1-hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).  Barkley is the sweetest pup you will ever meet! With a heart full of love for people and his furry friends, Barkley is the perfect companion for anyone looking to add a little joy to their life. Whether it is greeting you with a wagging tail or sharing slobbery kisses, he’s always ready to shower you with affection. Barkley is not only a people pleaser but also a social butterfly! He thrives in the company of other dogs, making new friends wherever he goes. Speaking of which, Barkley will require another playful, fun-loving, and energetic furry sibling in his fur-ever home. His playful spirit is contagious, and you will often find him engaging in fun playtime sessions, whether chasing a ball or tugging on his favorite toy. Food is one of Barkley's greatest loves, and it is no surprise that he is incredibly food motivated. This makes training a breeze—he learns commands and tricks faster than you can say "treat"! With a curious mind and eagerness to please, Barkley is always up for a new challenge. Make sure you build ongoing positive reinforcement training into your daily routine to build a solid foundation of a well-behaved adult dog! Finished playing and having completed his daily training sessions, Barkley will be tuckered out, so you can rest assured that you will find Barkley curled up next to you on the couch, dozing off peacefully. He absolutely adores snuggling and being close to his humans, turning any moment into a cozy bonding experience. Barkley will need someone in the family at home the majority of the day; he is way too young and energetic to be left crated if someone is off to work all day.  If there are children in the home, they should be older since he is still a puppy and teething, nipping, chasing, jumping and all the normal puppy phases he will be going through are not a great fit for young ones. He hasn't met kitties yet, but most puppies adjust well to dog-savvy cats when introduced at a young age. A big, fenced in yard would be great or a lifestyle that has plenty of time to incorporate daily activities for his mind and body! Add to that, he is all but housebroken - working on it and he is doing very well! Plus, he is already crate trained and sleeps through the night snoring softly while he dreams of his next day’s adventures. As part of Barkley’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered. If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Barkley, you can complete an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org ##2435098##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Barkley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
