My story

We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving on 7/14/25 to NorCal and OR. Surrounding states will be added to our route if needed ☺️ We would love to add Rusty to our trip for the right home 💕 Meet Rusty! He is a purebred miniature poodle (He is just rocking the teddy bear cut!) He turns 1 in October of 2025. He currently weighs 12 lbs. He has a little more growth left, but not much as he is almost fully matured. He is at a great size, and weight as of now 💙 He is neutered, microchipped, current on all of his vaccines, has been dewormed, examined thourely by our vet, and has been cleared to find a home all his own! He is house trained, and currently going out every 3-4 hours to use the restroom and have some play time. He is doing wonderful with this routine so we strongly suggest a good routine in his next home as well. He is crate trained and currently uses his crate to nap in throughout the day, and to sleep in at night. He is very well conditioned to his crate so no matter what the use is in your home he will adjust accordingly and do just fine! He is very smart, and understands a lot of what we tell him so communication is key with him in his training moving forward ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Leash training is new, but we have acclimated him to a collar and leash around our home. He has done okay with it so far as it's been very hot here so being outside isn't always something we can do for long with him. He sure does love being outside to play but definitely appreciates a nice cool conditioned home to lounge in during those hotter times outside. He is wonderful with other dogs and cats alike. He has been a friend to every animal he has met in our care so would be sure to become any current pets friend you already have! If you don't have another animal to join him in life, you alone will be just enough for our sweet boy to be happy! He is a total lover and just wants attention so if that means he gets all your attention by being your only pet I know his heart will be full ❤️ He is not a barker but will alert you of unfamiliar noises. He is very good at listening for things that aren't familiar and letting you know whether or not to investigate. He listens very well, so a simple “no barking” on your end will suffice his concern knowing you have it under control from there. He is wonderful on road trips of any length and will either sleep peacefully in his bed in the back seat or look out the window taking in all the beauty of the world around him. He is very curious and loves being a part of life however he can so whether you want to take him for a trip into town, or plan a small road trip (or long one 🙃) he will be happy to just be included 😊 He is very good at our groomers and always soaks up the extra attention she gives him simply because he is just so adorable and returns belly rubs with kisses ☺️ He came from a breeder, she was an older lady who just couldn't keep up with her program any longer and needed help placing the remaining pups, and adults she had. Socialization and training definitely started in our home. But he is learning and growing every day 💙 His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/rusty It covers his neuter, vaccines, microchip/registration, baby teeth extractions that hadn't fallen out on their own, his fecal test we had sent out to the lab, his deworming, his exam with our vet (that went perfect 😊,) the care involved in the months of care he has recieved since with us, his grooming costs, and his training/socialization we have personally done with him 💙

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rusty, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
