Meet Steve!Male | Terrier Mix | 62 lbs | Tan & White | Heartworm Positive (Treatment Options Available)Steve is a calm, gentle soul with a quiet confidence and a big heart. At 62 lbs, this tan and white terrier mix has an independent spirit but still enjoys a connection with his people—on his own terms.Steve knows some basic commands, and while he sometimes needs reminders, he’s generally responsive and trainable. He pulls hard on leash, so he’ll benefit from continued leash work, but his calm demeanor makes him a great candidate for success.Currently Heartworm positive, Steve is looking for a foster-to-adopt home where he can receive treatment in a safe, stress-free environment. Treatment options are available—just ask our front desk for more information.If you're looking for a laid-back, loyal companion who marches to the beat of his own drum, Steve might be just the dog for you.I have tested heartworm positive. This means I have a parasite and need treatment. While my friends at HSNBA desperately want to help me, the shelter is too stressful an environment to undertake treatment and treatment itself is very expensive. The shelter has a few options to help with treatment, and if I steal your heart you should talk with them and your vet about what my treatment is like.
