My story

đŸ¶ 🐕 CASH Male Border collie mix 9 - 12 months, 37 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 đŸ¶ Meet CASH! CASH is between 9-12 months, weighs 37 lbs. and is ALL heart! All he wants to do is feel safe and loved, and he will make you feel the same way right back. Cash has the most expressive eyes. You can almost tell what he is thinking and feeling just by making eye contact with him. He is very aware and loves to know what is going on all around him. He has been doing so well in foster care and has really bonded with his foster parents and border collie foster siblings. He likes to follow them everywhere and is what we like to call a “Velcro dog” dog. CASH is as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside. You will become attached to him the moment you meet him because he seems to stare right into your soul. Cash loves people and other dogs but does take some time to warm up. He is a bit nervous and apprehensive with introductions and he needs patience and a lot of reassurance when it comes to new things, new people and new environments. CASH is coming out of his shell more every day, but he will still need a home that is willing to spend time with him to gain his trust and give him the structure and training he needs to feel confident and relaxed. Cash already knows sit, shake and how to wait at the door when it is opened and not to rush out. He is almost fully potty trained but does require frequent bathroom breaks to go pee or he will go in the house. This is a work in progress, and he is learning fast. CASH LOVES other dogs after a proper introduction and would thrive in a home with a dog or dog siblings that are okay with some puppy energy and rough play. His play style may be a little too much for some dogs. Cash has a goofy side as he still has some puppy energy and is a bit clumsy (he falls off the couch a lot and tends to run too fast into things). He does like to chase and retrieve a ball and is learning to bring the ball and drop it! After a few throws he gets bored, and he does not seem like the type of dog that will be sport obsessed. He is soft on a leash but will require some training to master all the things about being on a leash. Like many young, busy border collies, Cash is a big chewer, and if you are not supervising him, he will eat everything he chews. We have finally taught him what are appropriate dog items and what are not, so shoes should be safe! CASH loves to jump up on and mouth play with his foster parents and they are working hard on teaching him manners with this. Cash has a very soft, sensitive personality and does well with soft voices and corrections. Loud voices seem to scare him, and he tends to pancake and retreat. He does also cower and squint a bit when you go to pet his face on occasion. He prefers slower movement, though this has been getting better and better each day as he learns to trust. CASH is a super snuggle bug once he trusts you and will curl up right next to, or on top of you to show affection. Cash is VERY happy to see you if you have been gone one minute or an hour. While he does have his spurts, Cash is not super high energy and has a wonderful off switch. Cash sees bikes, side by sides, horses and other things go by his foster house, and he just watches them without barking or trying to get close. He LOVES to sit on the back of the couch and watch out the window at birds, deer and other things in the yard! While CASH is a VERY sweet boy, his energy level and play style would not mix well with young kids so he can only go to a home with older, dog savvy children. Cash has not been tested on cats. He does play a bit rough and likes to chase, but his foster family thinks with proper introductions he could be cat friendly for a dog-savvy cat that doesn’t run. Cash will require a fenced yard as his recall is still a work in progress and as a past stray, he does like to do his own thing and investigate a bit while using his selective hearing. CASH is crate trained (though he does need a bit of time to settle in and will whine a tiny bit at first). He is very good overnight in his crate, but it does take a bit of coaxing for him to go in. You will never experience anything happier than Cash being let out of his crate, especially in the morning! CASH loves the outdoors and has been hiking and backpacking with his foster family! He loves taking in all the mountain air and sights. He sleeps well in a tent and loves water and is very brave at water crossings. He would thrive in an active home that likes to hike and backpack. He rides very well in a car but can get a bit car sick from time to time. CASH is more than eye candy! He is a lovely young boy, who loves people, dogs, and pup-adventures. He is ready for his forever adventure family. CASH is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about CASH, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. CASH is being fostered in Reno in Washoe County, NEVADA

If you have any questions or would like to adopt CASH, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
