My story

Meet Sam! A gentle yet spirited nine-and-a-half-year-old Black Mouth Cur currently living in Brevard, NC, whose tan coat with striking black accents matches his warm and protective heart. Sam’s beloved guardian recently passed away, and he’s now looking for a new loving home where he can share his loyal companionship and abundant affection. Sam’s true joy lies in the little things: a squeaky toy in his mouth, a stuffed animal to nuzzle, or the wind on his face during a car ride. His love for walks is unmatched, and he’d thrive with a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and bask in the sunshine. While he is an indoor/outdoor dog, Sam is house-trained and well-mannered, making him a delight to have around! This sweet boy’s greatest love, however, is people! He’s happiest when snuggled up close, soaking in belly rubs, or trying to convince you he’s a lapdog despite his large size. Sam’s affection is boundless, and his gentle nature shines brightest in the company of his human friends. He’s an ideal match for someone who values a loyal, protective companion. That said, Sam prefers to be the only animal in the home. He’s had challenges with other dogs in the past, so a pet-free household where he can be the star would suit him best. While his interactions with cats are unknown, his calm and people-focused demeanor ensures he’ll thrive with a guardian who understands his unique needs. Sam is neutered, in great health, and ready to bring joy, comfort, and security to his new family.
