*Come meet me this Saturday (06.28.25) at the Fort Collins PetSmart from 10am-2pm! ** IF NOT ADOPTED Saturday, Josie will be at our Sunday PetSmart Event, located in Loveland from 10-2pm. This event is first come, first served so we recommend arriving early if you have a specific furry friend in mind! This event operates on a number system so upon arrival make sure to get your number and we will call numbers up in groups! Please note in order to receive a number you need to be an approved adopter within the last 3 months. We will have paper applications available at the event as well as our application via our website! We hope to see you there! :)* I would like to introduce you to an adorable puppy. Josie is a lively, affectionate little girl. The Animal Friends Alliance, classified her as a Pittie-Terrier mix. She is currently 11 weeks old and weighs in at just over 12 pounds. I have stopped estimating what size my fosters eventually will be, having been notably wrong on several occasions. However, doing some basic research on pit terrier mix dogs 35 to 45 pounds would be a reasonable guess. Josie is a delightful bundle of energy with an abundance of puppy kisses to offer. I have yet to get her to cuddle up and sleep by my side on the couch. She will, however, exuberantly join me on walks about our neighborhood. We walk a half mile route several times a day. Josie has shown me that living in a townhome without a fenced in backyard is a bit confining for an active dog like her. So our walks are a necessary but enjoyable activity. On our walks, she affectionately greets my neighbors with a wagging tail and plenty of puppy kisses. I think she will be an amazing walking, jogging or running partner for your family. Josie is one of the smartest puppies I have fostered thus far. We live in a home with multiple staircases. Most of my foster puppies needed several days to master climbing up and down the stairs. Not Josie! Within hours of her arrival, she with wanton abandonment sailed up and down the stairs. That same afternoon, she learned that the word “Crate” with a few kibbles as incentive was a command she could and would gladly obey. Josie’s crate was located in my bedroom and once inside, she would sleep a solid seven hours of uninterrupted sleep. During the day I have been taking her out every two hours where she will quickly do her business I have had only a few accidents in the house, but they have come usually as a result of me not getting her out in that time window. Her lively personality leaves her a bit unfocused (she is a puppy!) for specific skilled training. I think that once she is comfortably adapted to her new home and has a needed area to run around, I believe formal or informal training will come pretty easy for her. I am certain that she will become an amazing member of her adopted family. Are you that family? If so, come meet this enchanting pup!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Josie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
