My story

My friends at Wayside say:-I`m a graduate of Wayside`s TABBY program!-I love treats, especially Churu!-I`m shy at first, but full of love!My home preferences are:-I will need a calm and quiet home environment.-I will need extra time and patience adjusting to my new home.-Children in the home must be 10 and older. This cat is from a hoarding situation. They will likely need time to adjust to home life. They have lived with many other cats but may have not experienced socialization with people and things like petting and large open spaces are overwhelming for them. Adopters should be willing to be patient during this process. Sequestering a cat in one small room for 2-4 weeks can be very helpful and gives the cat a safe place to call their own. It is important to let them go at their own pace with building a relationship with their new family and limiting lots of commotion and visitors in the beginning is wise. They may have not experienced life outside of the hoarding situation, so things could be overwhelming for them at first. Patience and positive interactions are crucial. Aversive methods of training should be avoided. Using treats, play and enrichment to build trust and teach new things is the way to go! All cats are of course unique and the time in which they each warm up to people and places is just as unique as they are.Hi, I’m Saffron—a 1-year-old tabby boy with soft stripes, a quiet spirit, and a growing curiosity about the world around me. I came from a hoarding situation where life was crowded and overwhelming, and I didn’t get much attention or love from humans. Because of that, I’m still learning how to trust, and I’ll need a special someone who understands that love and confidence take time to grow.I’m not your typical cuddly cat—at least not yet. I’m still figuring out what affection feels like, and while I may accept a few gentle pets here and there, I prefer to keep things on my terms. But don’t worry—I do have a soft spot for something: treats! Offer me a Churu, and I’ll be your best friend (well… maybe your cautiously curious friend). They’re the key to my heart and one of the best ways to build trust with me.I get along really well with other cats and would love to have a calm, confident feline friend in my new home. They help show me that humans aren’t so scary after all. I’ll thrive in a quiet home with patient people who are willing to let me move at my own pace

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Saffron, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
