My story

Microchipped, DOB March 7, 2024 Echidna is a stunning cat with a silky coat and soulful eyes. As you can see from his pictures, he adores hanging out in the sink (affectionately nicknamed "The Safety Sink"). When approached gently and respectfully, Echidna rewards you with soft purrs and sweet little kneading paws. Behind his dashing good looks is a quiet, timid boy who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. He is not aggressive in the slightest, just very shy and easily overwhelmed. He needs a calm, patient adopter who will give him the time and space he needs to settle in at his own pace. He has made big strides in his foster home, showing more curiosity and bravery each day, but he's still on a journey and will need continued support to build his confidence. Because he startles easily and can become reactive if handled the wrong way or too much, he’s not suited for a home with children. He is currently exhibiting biting behaviours when petted, which seems to be because he gets overstimulated easily. A quiet, adult-only home with an adopter(s) who is experienced in cat behaviour, especially overstimulation and socialization, would be his best match. Echidna gets along well with other cats and could happily join a home with a friendly feline companion. Another calm, confident cat might even help show him the ropes and give him a little extra courage. We do not know much about his history other than that he is in good health and in need of a loving and patient forever home. If you believe in giving shy cats a chance to shine and can offer Echidna the gentle, loving environment he needs to blossom, he just might reward you with a bond that’s truly special! You can see all sorts of extra videos and pictures of Echidna at his foster home's Instagram page @evaandalexfoster

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Echidna, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
