My story

To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Luna is a 10 month old female kitten. Here’s what her foster volunteers say about her: How would you describe the cat's general personality?  Luna is cautious around people, but she is very interested in humans and our activities.  We have only had her for less than two weeks and she is already approaching us for attention and pets, but on her terms.  She is very friendly with other cats and even our dog!   She is very food motivated, which is definitely the way to her heart. Does the cat enjoy being pet?  She didn’t initially, but she has now approached us for pets.  She leans into the pets and give us adorable head bonks when she’s really enjoying it!  She has to be pet on her terms though, as if you approach her too fast she will hiss and back away. If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?  Luna’s favorite spots are the top of her head and her back. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?  She does not seem to like her tail being touched. Does the cat come on your lap?  No, she has not tried to come onto our laps yet. Does the cat like to be held?  She tolerates being held, but it definitely isn’t her favorite.  She will squirm after a couple of seconds when we pick her up! Does the cat sleep in your bed?  Not yet, but we have only been letting her out of her foster room for the past few days so anything could change! Does the cat seek your attention?  Yes!  Luna will sometimes approach us for pets and attention.   Does the cat like to play?  So far, she does not seem very interested in playing. What are the cat's favorite games and toys?  While she hasn’t played with us directly, sometimes at night we hear her swatting around little plastic balls that we have in her room. How vocal is the cat?  Luna is very focal.  She has a cute, high pitched meow that she shares when she is seeking our attention.  It is her way of telling us she wants to be petted or that she wants to socialize with our family pets. What kinds of sounds does the cat make?  Luna meows and will sometimes hiss as a way of telling us that she has had enough. Does the cat scratch a scratcher?  No, we have not seen her use a scratcher yet. Does the cat always use the litter box?  Yes, Luna has never had an accident or missed the litter box. If no, please explain. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating?  Right now, we are giving her a healthy portion of dry food in the morning.  In the evening, we give her a can of wet food with some sprinkled dry food around it.  She was recently nursing kittens, so she still has a large appetite. Is the cat picky about food?  She does not seem to enjoy wet food and very rarely eats it.  She loves dry food however.  We will be trying to switch up her wet food brand to see if we can find something she likes. What is the cat's favorite treat?  She likes cat dental treats as well as Churu treats! Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?  No, Luna has never swatted at us. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?  No, she has never scratched us. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you?  No, Luna has never nipped us. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)?  No, she has never bitten us. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful?  We have not yet introduced her to strangers, but my guess is that she was be shy and try to hide initially.  After time though she might be interested in socializing to satisfy her curiosity, because she is interested in humans. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?  The head bonks that she does when she’s enjoying being pet are adorable!  She also meows when seeking attention which is super cute.  She loves our dog and will rub against his legs.  She is a very petite cat, with a build like that of a kitten entering adulthood. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?  Luna is a very cute, very sweet little cat.  She has had a litter of kittens and some of them look just like her!  She gets along great with other cats as well as dogs.  She has had a difficult start to her life, but she is loving indoor life and being pampered by her humans. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?  Luna’s biggest challenge is her hesitancy around humans, but in just a couple of weeks this has already improved a lot.  Whoever adopts her will need to understand that it may be weeks or longer before she is entirely comfortable.  Having another friendly pet in the house will definitely help her build confidence.  She does enjoy getting attention from us, but she likes to be the one to make the first move!
