My story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 06/15/25 Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Houston is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.  Weight: 55 lbs - Houston is underweight and needs to gain a healthy 5 lbs. Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: We were told that Houston is neutered, but do not have veterinary proof of this. We does not have testicles. Given this, he will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum acknowledging that IF it's determined in the future that he is not neutered, you will have him neutered at your cost.  Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Houston requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Houston comes from a home where he was well loved, and it shows in every calm glance, every easy tail wag, and the soft, trusting way he leans into people. He’s not here to be fixed—he’s already wonderful. He’s simply looking for a family who will open their heart the way his last one did, and let him continue living life as the devoted, affectionate, and silly companion he was always meant to be. Houston great with all dogs, all people, and handles new environments with a steady, laid-back ease. Huston doesn’t ask for much—give him a soft bed, a quiet home, and he’ll happily nap the day away by your side. But don’t let his relaxed demeanor fool you—this boy has a wonderfully goofy side, too. He has opinions (and he’s not afraid to share them!), a funny little personality that shines in the comfort of a loving home, and a comical way of showing just how much he enjoys life. What is my personality like? Meet Houston – A Big-Hearted Boy Looking for a Love Like He’s Known Before. Houston is the kind of dog that reminds you just how deep a dog’s love can run. This large, handsome Standard Poodle has known what it means to be truly cherished—and now he’s hoping to find that kind of love all over again. Whether you’re looking for a calm, steady presence or a big dog with a silly streak, Houston is the best of both worlds. He fits into just about any home that has room in their heart—and maybe on their couch—for a gentle giant who simply wants to be loved the way he knows love should feel. Houston walks decently on a lead but can pull a tad bit when excited and will need some refreshing on queues. Houston would love a home with or without a furry companion. Truthfully he just wants love. If you’re ready to welcome a truly special dog into your life, Huston is waiting. He’s already been someone’s beloved boy—now he’s ready to be yours. How do I act when I first meet new people? Houston is a dapper gentleman who will greet you with enthusiastic kindness. Other tips and tidbits: Houston's birthday is 10/17/2019 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. June 26, 2025, 10:14 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Houston Jun 25, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
