Meet Braveheart—known as Gibson to his foster family—a gentle soul with a brave heart.Gibson came to BARCS through no fault of his own and has been steadily learning that the world isn’t so scary when you’re surrounded by love, routine, and soft blankets. Once shy and unsure, Gibson is now cuddling up to both of his foster parents—he’s even been warming up to his foster dad, ending the day snuggled next to him on the couch. This sweet, quiet boy thrives in calm, predictable environments. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and enjoys a low-key lifestyle with short bursts of play and exploration. He’s currently working on leash training and making great progress—especially when treats are involved! He’s also started discovering life’s small joys, like chasing his own tail and catching sight of himself in the mirror (adorable confusion included).Gibson adores toys (every toy is his favorite), and he’s gaining confidence by exploring the backyard with the help of his doggie foster sibling. We think he’d really benefit from a home with another calm, friendly dog to help show him the ropes and provide companionship. He is still sensitive to loud noises, sudden movements, and surprises on walks. Clicker training and consistent routines are helping him build trust and confidence, but he’ll need a patient, understanding adopter committed to continuing this progress—especially when it comes to helping him feel safe around new people, particularly men.Because of his sensitive nature, Gibson would do best in a quiet, adult-only home (or one with older, gentle teens). He hasn’t been tested with cats or small animals.Gibson is the kind of dog who blooms with time, consistency, and love. He may be shy at first, but once you’ve earned his trust, you’ll have a devoted companion who follows you from room to room, rests his head in your lap, and soaks up every gentle word and kind touch you offer. If you`re ready to open your heart to a dog who just needs someone to believe in him, please fill out an adoption application and email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with his foster.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Braveheart (Gibson), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
