My story

Meet Braveheart—known as Gibson to his foster family—a goofy, loving pup with a heart of gold and a serious love for snuggles. When Gibson first arrived at BARCS in June, he was shy, underweight, and unsure of the world. Fast forward to today, and this sweet pittie mix has truly blossomed in foster care. His fears are now almost nonexistent, and he’s thriving as a happy, playful, silly dog who loves nothing more than sharing life with his people. One of Gibson’s favorite discoveries has been water—he absolutely loves it! Whether it’s splashing in a kiddie pool or swimming at the beach, he’ll play in the water for hours if you let him. Over Labor Day weekend, his foster family took him to the beach, where he was surrounded by crowds, bikes, and new people. He handled it all like a pro, tail wagging and happily soaking up attention from everyone who stopped to pet him.At home, Gibson is just as wonderful. He’s fully house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night in his crate in his foster parents’ bedroom. He walks beautifully on leash and makes a fantastic walking or running buddy to help burn off his morning zoomies. Once playtime is over, he’s more than happy to curl up on the couch for cuddles, matching your energy whether it’s active or relaxed.Toys and bones are another favorite, though his foster family supervises since he’s a strong chewer. He’s also shown how adaptable and affectionate he can be—whether meeting new visitors at home or lounging with his foster parents, Gibson greets the world now with curiosity and warmth instead of hesitation.Gibson enjoys the company of other dogs and gains confidence when he has a canine buddy around. A calm, predictable home with another confident dog would be wonderful for him, though he could also thrive as the only pup in a household that continues his training and provides him with stability and love.At his core, Gibson is deeply loyal, cuddly, and affectionate. He may have started his journey as a shy, uncertain dog, but he has truly “become Braveheart” in foster care—silly, loving, and ready to bring joy to his forever family. If you’re ready to welcome this brave, sweet boy into your home, please fill out an adoption application and email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with his foster.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Braveheart (Gibson), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
