My story

Meet Penny – The Sweet Soul with So Much Love to Give Penny may not be a beauty queen in the traditional sense, but to those who know her, she’s absolutely beautiful where it matters most—in her heart. With her soulful eyes and shy, toothy smile, Penny has a quiet charm that gently tugs at your heartstrings. At just 1 year old and 37 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized companion—easy to love, easy to live with, and just waiting for someone to see the treasure she truly is. Penny came from a deeply heartbreaking situation. Her former owner, a retired Veteran bravely facing terminal cancer, made the incredibly difficult decision to surrender her—because he wanted her to have a chance at life, love, and happiness beyond his own. She had never really been exposed to other people, but since coming into the care of Critter Calvary, Penny has come a long way. Though shy at first, she now trusts people, even children, and her personality is beginning to shine. She’s sweet, gentle, and wonderfully funny. Her signature move? A little toothy grin when she’s happy—it’s awkward and adorable all at once, and completely heart-melting. She’s house-trained, lets you know when she needs to go out, and is doing well on a leash with just a bit more practice needed. What Penny needs now is a hero—someone to show her the same unconditional love she once gave. Giving Penny a forever home wouldn’t just change her life—it would bring peace to the man who loved her first. As he fights his own final battle, knowing Penny is safe, loved, and finally thriving would mean the world to him. It’s a final act of love that you can help complete. Adopt Penny. Love her like she deserves. And be the hero both she—and her Veteran—so deeply deserve. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 25, 2025, 11:39 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt PENNY, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
