Right now, she is very scared and uncertain of the world around her. She’s nervous around humans and uncomfortable with handling, but beneath her fear is a dog who wants to feel safe and secure.What Oakee needs most is time, patience, and the gentle presence of another confident dog. She does best when she has a calm, kind canine companion to lean on and learn from—someone who can help her navigate this new chapter of life outside of the mill. Having another dog in the home isn’t just helpful for Oakee—it’s essential to her progress.She’s not yet ready for cuddles or close contact, but every small step she takes is a meaningful milestone. With a compassionate, understanding adopter and a doggy role model by her side, Oakee has the potential to blossom into a loving and loyal companion.If you have a peaceful home, a gentle heart, and a confident pup looking for a quiet friend, Oakee may be the one who needs you most.**Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly.
