Concord has been living in a foster home but he will be at our shelter for open hours starting 6/26. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet him during open hours! Concord is a total love bug of a dog who spent many weeks at Chicago Animal Care and Control. There, he was known as "perfect angel boy!" and he was suggested to us many times as a great Heartland dog. Sadly, Concord was pretty sick with an upper respiratory infection for a couple of weeks at CACC, right when we also had several dogs break with pneumonia at our shelter, so we could not bring another sick dog in at that time. When we saw Concord again, he had thankfully made it through his illness and was fully recovered. We welcomed him to our shelter with open arms! Concord's transition to us was so easy. He is so go with the flow, and he enjoys pets so much that he was excited for his medical intake exam! He did not mind being poked one bit, he was just happy to be the center of attention! He is the nicest and sweetest boy. A couple of days after arriving, Concord spent a week and a half in a temporary foster home. We wanted to give him a break from shelter life after all he had been through, and we knew he would do well in this foster home with another dog and two kids aged 10 and 14. Concord's foster mom happily reported that he is housebroken- he will go potty in the yard or on leash walks- and is crate trained. He slept in his carte each night from 10-7 without issue. He can also be left crated in the day, but his foster mom did let him free roam for a couple of hours too and he did great. He is great with their large male dog, as well as the kids. They said that Concord is very near perfect! Here is what his foster mom wrote: "Concord is an absolute sweetheart who lives for pets and cuddles. With his constantly wagging tail, he loves following his people everywhere.. This laid-back boy enjoys sunbathing, rolling in the grass, and relaxing wherever he can stretch out. Friendly and gentle, Concord gets along wonderfully with kids and other dogs. He’s also crate trained and fully housebroken, making him the perfect easygoing companion.": We hope you will come and meet this wonderful and deserving dreamboat today! Concord’s adoption fee is $300. This animal is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Concord, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
