My story

Widget - 4 year old, male (soon to be neutered), Terrier X — might be part Cheeto because he’s got flaming orange ears! “Widgie”, as we like to call him, came to us very shy and shut down. The previous shelter reported that he was shutdown there as well, not allowing anyone to handle him. I’m happy to report that he opened up for us on day 4, and all it took was giving him space and love and then…a car ride! He completely came to life in the car! He jumped into the lap of his driver and had a whole new energy. We still go slow and respect his space, but he now lets the staff pet and hold him! Widget is only 12 lb and currently underweight so we’re working to get him to his healthy weight of approximately 14 lb. He also came to us with a sizable abscess on his neck that he’s undergoing treatment for. Poor Widgie has had it rough. We don't recommend Widgie goes to a home with children right now!
