My story

Meet Clifford: Not the Big Red Dog, But Arguably Better Clifford may not be the size of a school bus, but he is large in love, medium in floof, and perfectly sized for couch-sharing. At around 6 years old, this handsome hound has officially aged out of the chaos of puppyhood, but don’t think he’s gone full retiree just yet. He’s still got pep in his step and enough zoom left to keep life interesting. Clifford has been a total rockstar in our Compassionate Care Camp, charming kids and counselors alike with his easygoing nature and A+ leash manners. He’s the type of dog who walks into a room and makes friends without even trying. People? Love him. Kids? Obsessed. Dogs? Probably fans too; he’s got that “cool uncle” energy. If you're looking for a lovable buddy who’s old enough to know better but young enough to still chase a tennis ball like it owes him money, Clifford is your guy. Come meet him at the Fredericksburg SPCA; he’s ready to be your not-so-giant, just-right best friend.
