My story

*** Connie is in a foster home. ***Connie 14326: orange tabby & white, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 3/21/18Cats: okay, good soloDogs: possiblyChildren: savvy elementary+BACKGROUND: Connie first came to The Rescue House after a rescuer saw her being thrown out of a house and chased away with a broom and water; her right eye was cloudy from an old infection but stable. She was adopted and dearly loved by her guardian, but when an overseas move came up that would have put Connie through undue hardship, it was decided the better thing for her was to let Connie find a new home.PERSONALITY: Connie is sweet and sassy! She likes to call the shots and be the director-in-charge of interactions, but you’ll never lack for them. Connie is bright, talkative, and high-energy. She loves scaling a tall cat tree. She is a skilled hockey player who will bat crinkly foil balls around like a champion… she’ll start a game by herself and then call for you to join in, most often in the evenings. Connie is a social kitty who will engage with anyone who comes to visit; she gravitates toward women, and was fond of the elementary-aged girl who would visit, her meow turning into a soft and cute little entreaty for her to come play with Connie. Her first request for something is also usually sweet with you: if you’re at your desk, she’ll gently reach up to tap your arm to ask for food, a treat, or playtime. If she has to ask again, her vocalizations will get sassier… especially at mealtime, because Connie is food obsessed and keeps a sharp eye on kitchen operations. While Connie prefers short pettings to sustained ones, and she likes to keep her paws under her own control, she will jump up and sit next to you in a chair or on the sofa… and if you’re feeling under the weather, empathetic Connie always seems to know and will give you special cuddles.COMPATIBILITY: Connie can live with another cat though she doesn’t buddy up. She has seen dogs and didn’t have negative reactions, so may be fine living with one. She does best when her people are home a lot; she can get bored and needs enrichment and interaction. She has done well with a 7-year-old visiting child who is able to recognize and respect cat body language, and Connie loved chasing after the balls the girl would toss for her.Are you ready for a charmingly bossy kitty to be your BFF?

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Connie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
