My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:18Meet Riley At 8 years old and 46 lbs, this sweet, sensitive pittie mix is looking for a fresh start with someone who sees the beauty in a quiet soul. Riley has likely lived through some tough times, and the shelter is a bit overwhelming for him—but even so, he tries his best to connect. He walks gently on leash, accepts handling with soft eyes, and is incredibly polite with other dogs. In playgroup, he’s calm, quiet, and easygoing. Riley may take time to fully come out of his shell, but he’s worth every moment of patience. Riley also has moderate dental needs that adopters should be ready to address with their vet. What he really needs most, though, is a safe place to land, kindness, and time to heal. If you’ve got a peaceful home and a big heart, Riley just might be your match.June 26, 2025, 3:51 pm
