My story

Eva is a dignified Cattle Dog / Labrador Retriever mix who, in her later years, lost her dad suddenly. Her dad, a small animal veterinarian, was the only love and security this sweet girl had ever known. The day came, after her dad's home was emptied, that it was time for Eva to leave. The only choice that seemed possible was the local shelter. Luck was on Eva's side on that sad day. Our compassionate New Mexico rescuer was in the shelter lobby and had the pleasure of meeting Eva as she arrived. The decision took seconds after she held Eva close. This sweet girl snuggled into her with so much love and trust that our rescuer knew she was coming home with her. Farfel's was contacted hours later and we happily accepted Eva into Farfel's Rescue. Eva, at 50 lbs (such a perfect size for long walks and late night cuddling) and approximately 9 - 10 years old has many healthy years left to be a full-time best friend. Eva will be a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that very sweet best friend. She will be by your side to hug and love on...a kind and loving spirit to hold close when the challenges of the world seem overwhelming. After spending some with Eva, her New Mexico rescuer said it was obvious that this beautiful girl has been loved dearly in her life. "She'a just so darn sweet, well-behaved and loving. She's truly an irresistible girl who has so much love in her heart to share." her rescuer bragged about our Eva. Eva may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Eva with either retirees (she would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works in a home-based office. A mellow canine friend would be great for Eva as well, but not mandatory if her people are attentive and enjoy spending lots of time with their fuzzy family member. For those family members who enjoy neighborhood walks and time in the outdoors, Eva would love nothing more than to share the experience. Her foster enjoys walks with Eva to socialize with neighbors and enjoy the paths near her home. And then, maybe Eva's favorite part is when it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot beside her beloved family members. Eva has been vetted, vaccinated and spayed to be line with Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs that are fixed and therefore won't contribute to the overpopulation crisis in the canine population. Eva will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 6/25/2025. Adoption applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and cuddly best friend. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy.
