My story

Meet Shy Guy 💙 True to his name, Shy Guy is a quiet, sensitive soul who's still learning the world is a safe place. This sweet, apartment-sized pup may be timid right now, but there's a gentle, affectionate heart underneath that just needs a little time and patience to shine. On his first few outings, he was nervous navigating the shelter and had to be gently coaxed with treats—which he loves! He’s especially unsure around barking dogs and unfamiliar noises, but he starts to loosen up in the play yard where it’s quieter and calmer. There, he’s come up for gentle reassurance and has shown glimmers of trust. Shy Guy seems to find comfort near other dogs—he even started walking more confidently when he met a friendly pup through the fence. He may do well in a home with a calm, confident canine companion to help show him the ropes. He appears to be potty trained and prefers keeping his space clean, which is a great bonus. Right now, he seems like a low to medium energy dog, but with time and confidence, he may blossom into a fun little companion. If you have a quiet home, a gentle heart, and the patience to let him come out of his shell at his own pace, Shy Guy could be your perfect match. 💫 As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
