Though she hasn’t lived with kids, her loving and gentle nature makes her a wonderful fit for families. She’s also an ideal second dog—she enjoys canine company and knows how to share space respectfully. All she asks for is her own quiet spot to eat—other than that, she’s easygoing and full of love to give. Dixie’s Ideal Home:Dixie would be happiest in a home where she can be part of the action—going for walks, riding in the car, and soaking up cuddles on the couch. She’d do well with singles, couples, or families, and would love to have a calm dog sibling (or be your one and only). She was being kept by a homeless man who used her solely to breed puppies, selling them on the street for money. Dixie had given everything she had to care for those pups—at great cost to herself. When her rescuer found her, she pleaded to save the whole group. The man refused to give up the puppies, but he let Dixie go. It was the first act of kindness she'd received in a long time. That day changed everything. Dixie received immediate medical attention, nourishing food, and—most importantly—love. Slowly but surely, she began to heal. Her fur grew back. Her eyes brightened. And her personality emerged: soft, soulful, and full of quiet strength.
