Up to date on all his vaccinations and proudly healthy, he's more than just a petâ&#194&#128&#194&#148heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s a constant, loving presence in everyday life. Mauka came into our lives during the quiet stillness of the COVID era, when midnight shifts left the house silent and a bit too empty. Thatâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s when this 80-pound bundle of companionship stepped in. At four years old, Mauka is a house-trained, loyal companion whoâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s mastered the polite art of standing by the door when nature callsâ&#194&#128&#194&#148no accidents, just business. He lives for tug of war battles and the thrill of a good walk, always ready when the leash comes out. While he sticks to his trusty dog food twice a day, Mauka occasionally earns a small, savory reward: a piece of steak straight from the plate. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s also a gentle soul who finds comfort curled up beside you, whether you're binge-watching a series or working from home, keeping your company as only a best friend can. Mauka might have a soft spot for eating tissues now and then, but heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s truly the definition of a well-mannered dog. This 80-pound gentle giant respects the house rulesâ&#194&#128&#194&#148no couch-surfing or furniture acrobatics, just four paws on the floor and a heart full of affection. When he meets someone new, his excitement bubbles over in the form of a joyful jump, but by the second meeting, heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s all mellow charm. His playful greetings are a testament to his big heart, and his calm presence afterward shows just how intuitive and sweet-natured he is. As life brings new challenges, including health concerns for one of his caregivers, his family is facing the difficult decision of finding him a new home.
