My story

Au revoir Québec, bonjour Ontario: Jacques the cat has landed!Jacques, a handsome ginger monsieur, has left his vagabond life behind and has made his way west to join the EHS family. As he adjusts to life at the shelter, Jacques would like to move on and find his forever “famille.”ABOUT JACQUES- At shelter- Fun fact: the vast majority of fully orange cats are male.- Despite being a gentle cat, Jacques is very shy around people. With the help of volunteers he has been slowly making some progress accepting human touch. His future adopter will have to put in time and effort to help him to continue to build his confidence.- With a very slow approach and giving him lots of time to acclimate to you, Jacques can be touched and enjoys some chin and cheek scratches.- Jacques is quite nosy; he enjoys spending time at the front of his kennel and is very interested in any cat who happens to pass by.- He really enjoys time out of his kennel and likes saying hi to all the other cats. - Jacques is a playful boy. He enjoys a wand session with shelter volunteers and will also amuse himself with small toys or a catnip kicker, or even with other cats. There are endless possibilities with this sweetheart!- He is food motivated, accepting treats by hand and licking Churu tube treats off fingers and back-scratchers. Jacques will meow for his dinner too! Food is absolutely the way to this cat’s heart!- Jacques is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans.- He is currently enrolled in EHS`s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help him to become more comfortable around people.- Some skittish cats may remain reserved, while others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways. As we get to know Jacques, we will be able to identify the key to success with this sweet boy.- Jacques is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and up to date on core vaccinations.JACQUES’ IDEAL HOME- Given his shy nature, Jacques would do best in a calm, quiet home (without young children or dogs) where he can show his true colours at his own pace.- He is currently sharing a kennel with a compatible feline with whom he loves wrestling, sleeping, eating, and hanging out. Jacques would enjoy spending his life “avec un ami.” - Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Jacques settle

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jacques, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
