Do we even need to say it? How stinking cute is Brady Buster? It's a given that he is absolutely adorable, has the cutest fluffy butt, and best puppy dog face. But if you were to ask what would be the 4 words to best describe Brady it would be: loyal, affectionate, mellow, and smart! That's only just the tip of the iceberg too. He is a couch snuggler, water lover, dog friendly, toy enthusiast, ready when you are type of dog. Brady is also the type that loves car rides and enjoys going anywhere and everywhere with you. It doesn't matter if it's just a 5 min car ride to the gas station, he'll be in the passenger seat happy as a clam. Watch his video and fall in love with this fluffy teddy bear: Brady Buster is an Aussie/Border Collie mix approximately 3 years old and currently weighs 53 lbs. He is a rescue dog and with any rescue it’s always a mystery, and we cannot guarantee breed or age. It’s a pretty safe assumption Brady has some sort of working dog breed in him just based off looks alone and from what we have seen with his personality. We'd be so happy to find adopters who have a little experience with Aussie-type breeds under their belt --- someone who understands their little quirks, has an appreciation for their clever minds, and can provide the structure and stimulation they require. Want to know what's in Brady's top 4 favorite "to do's" list? Number one, and by far the cutest, is when you scratch the inside of his ears, a switch goes off in him and he's under your spell. He loves for his inner ears to be scratched and will quite literally start talking about how much he loves it. His foster parents love how silly and funny he can be. Second on the list, would hands down be snuggling, this boy loves to snuggle and would do it all day if you let him. Third, is his love for toys and he doesn't discriminate. He'll play with rope toys, plushy toys, squeaky toys, balls, frisbees, you name it. He can keep himself entertained for hours if he wanted but enjoys toys the most when you're playing with him. One of his favorite games to play is tug of war! Last on the list, this boy loves the water! It doesn't matter if it's a puddle of water, a beach, kiddie pool in the backyard, you name it and Brady is dipping his paws in. In all honesty though, Brady's "favorites" list can go on and on because everything makes this guy happy. Brady is very dog friendly and is currently fostered with 3 other large breed dogs as well as a super small 14 year old Pom and gets along great with all of them. He loves to play with his foster siblings and has a more rumble and tumble type of play style. He is great about matching the energies of the other dogs and takes social cues great. He'll play when it's time to play, nap when it's time to nap, adjust his play style to match the play style of the other dog, and listens to their social cues if play gets a little too rough. Brady is good about sharing treats around other dogs and is good about not getting into his foster siblings food. Every now and then he will try to sneak a piece of kibble but the second you tell him to leave it, he does. Brady would thrive in a multi-dog home or even as a solo dog. He doesn't need the company of other dogs to help him feel comfortable nor does he need other dogs to play with to fulfill his energy needs. He is a laid-back companion that will be happy either way but we do think he would be HAPPIEST with a another dog sibling or two. If you know Aussie’s or have experience with them, then you know how incredibly smart they are and Brady is no different! He is so clever and so responsive to his handlers. It’s incredible how smart he is. Brady knows how to sit, shake, down, kennel, go lay down, load up, drop (when playing with toys), and has a pretty decent recall. His foster parents live in a cul-de-sac in the suburbs and he free roams with them when they are hanging out the garage or doing yard work and he immediately comes when he is called. He thrives when he is given direction and he is very eager to please. You can see it in his eyes how much he loves to do what you tell him to. It’s super fun watching him immediately respond to a command even when you don’t have a treat. You can tell him sit from a distance or kennel from a distance and he responds on a dime. Brady also is great walking on a leash and does even better on a gentle leader which is a type of training leash. His foster parents also report that Brady has wonderful house manners and is fully potty trained. If there was a Nobel prize for "best doggy citizen" it would be designated to Brady. The type of home Brady would do best in can look like so many different things. We do believe that he would thrive in a home with a backyard in the suburbs or even a home with some property. Not that he needs all the space in the world because of his energy needs but because he simply enjoys being outside in the fresh air. He's the type that will sit outside with you while you're doing stuff around the yard, hanging out in the garage, or cooking on the grill. He loves going out in the front yard with his foster parents and especially when his foster dad drops the tailgate of the truck. Brady hops right in the bed and sits there watching with so much content. Brady would be a great companion to take with you on adventures as he loves exploring new places and is a great car rider as well. Have a secret trail you've been wanting to explore? Brady is already loaded up in the truck, waiting for you. He loves the water as well, so even a beach trip with your new bestie Brady is in the cards. Brady not only has a clever mind, is very dog friendly, has an adventurous side to him, but he is also incredibly snuggly and can turn on that relaxed vibe easily. For the most part, Brady is a mellow super chill boy that is perfectly content relaxing and snuggling the day away. He can match whatever energy you are wanting from him and it comes naturally. He is 70% chill and 30% adventure ready. You could say he's a "just say the word, I'm there" type of dog. Really does go to show how loyal of a companion Brady is too. In regards to kids, Brady has been around young kids as well as teens. Due to his breed and the innate instinct to want to "herd," he would be best in a home with kids 13 and up who can respect his space, read his cues, and be a part of the fun in a thoughtful way. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there!
