My story

Meet Gordie! At 1 year and 3 months old and 53lbs, this handsome Lab–Pit Bull mix is a soulful, observant boy who has already come so far since joining us. Gordie is doing his absolute best to "learn how to dog," and while he can be a bit shy at first, his progress has been incredible to witness. In his foster home on a busy farm, he has shown he can handle a lot of activity as long as he has the right guidance. Gordie is a dream on a leash, naturally walking in a loose heel and checking in with his person for reassurance. Once he feels secure, his goofy and deeply affectionate side truly shines—he’ll even rest his chin in your hand when he’s looking for a little comfort. To help him continue blossoming, Gordie is looking for a home with another well-behaved, neutral, and confident dog. Having a "canine mentor" to follow and learn from is the absolute key to his success. Because Gordie is still building his brave side, he is looking for an adult-only home where he can focus on his growth. He currently prefers a cat-free environment, though he may be able to coexist with a very "dog-savvy" cat in the future with a patient, intentional handler. If you have a confident dog and a heart for helping a resilient boy reach his full potential, Gordie is ready to meet you!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gordie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
