My story

When Layzie first arrived at CVHS, he was uncertain, overwhelmed, and unsure of his place in the world. The shelter can be a loud and confusing place for a shy soul, and Layzie kept to himself, watching everything from a safe distance. But with gentle hands, patient voices, and time to trust, Layzie began to show us who he really is.Now thriving in a foster home, Layzie has truly discovered what it means to be a dog. He’s learned the joy of soft couches and long walks, the comfort of a crate when it’s time to rest, and the pride of being a perfectly potty-trained housemate. His love for chew toys (and his excellent manners about leaving human things alone), his silly talent for catching flies midair, and his trademark “face boops” that are both a greeting and a love note. Most of all, Layzie has revealed his love language: face scratches. He leans in with closed eyes, soaking up every gentle rub, as if he’s saying, This. This is what I was waiting for.Layzie gets along wonderfully with other dogs, big or small, but he would also be content as your one and only. Once a shy stray, Layzie has blossomed into a loyal, loving companion. Now he waits for the chapter where he goes home, for good.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Layzie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
