My story

Meet Brownie! Brownie is the complete puppy package—funny, sweet, affectionate, and just the right amount of rascal! At around 7 months old and 35 pounds, he’s a happy, medium-energy pup who’s playful, curious, and ready to soak up all the love and adventure life has to offer. Brownie gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves to romp around with them. He will play with them and then is ready for a cuddle session! He’s also done well with smaller dogs and is learning how to be a respectful playmate. Like most puppies, he can be a little annoying to older dogs, but he’s quick to learn when corrected. He recently attended a farmers market event where he met lots of people, young and old, and absolutely thrived. Brownie loves affection and attention and is always happy to dole out kisses. He may bark when he sees other dogs—usually just an excited “let’s play!” bark—but has shown that with proper introductions, he gets along just fine. Brownie hasn’t been tested with cats, but he coexists peacefully with frogs hopping around the yard—he just watches with curiosity. At home, he’s working hard on crate training and doing a great job. He sleeps through the night in his crate and lets you know when he needs to go out. He’s also getting used to being crated when his foster leaves the house and is learning to settle down quickly. Brownie already knows several commands like sit, paw, down, come, and drop it (though he’s definitely more motivated when treats are involved!). He’s also learning “off” for counter-surfing—because yes, like any mischievous pup, he’s curious about kitchen counters. He’s good on leash, rides well in the car (buckled in safely with a harness), and even waits to be released before jumping out. Brownie also loves water. Baths? He’ll hop in with you! Garden hose? It’s his favorite game. Rain? He’ll be the first one out the door. He doesn’t even mind a hair dryer. His favorite hobbies include stealing toys when he thinks no one is looking, playing fetch (he’ll bring the ball right back!), and entertaining himself with squeaky toys and puzzles. Brownie would thrive in a home with another playful dog and a family that can give him the time, structure, and love he needs. He’d love a fenced yard to run around in, and a family who enjoys a good laugh—because this boy is full of personality and joy. A lucky family is out there, and they’re going to hit the jackpot with Brownie. Apply to meet Brownie today at bcaaofnj.org!Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application!
