My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:I have potential behavior challenges that staff will address with you when you meet me.I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.I would do best in a home with only adult humans.Not only do I pull at heart strings, but I also pull on leash! I will need someone to help me with my leash manners.I don't always like to share my food, toys or bedding with other animals.A volunteer writes: Autumn came to us with lovely owner notes, including, when asked their favorite thing about her, "Every single thing! I love every aspect of my dog." They also told us she loves car rides, bath time/water; knows the cues for sit, wait, drop it, and down; and got along nicely with the resident children.Though Autumn's been having a difficult time adjusting to a shelter environment (totally understandable), she's still shown plenty of her sweet personality - especially when I take her to the play-yard where she can get a break from living in a crate and get some much needed attention. She'll sometimes do zoomies with her toy; then when she sees me sitting down on the bench, she'll run up to solicit head pets and neck scratches, which seem to be very soothing to her. She'll calmly stand there, leaning in, while languidly watching the traffic and people going by. We're told that Autumn has interacted with other dogs and was tolerant, friendly, playful, and outgoing with them; but can also be shy and prefers contact on her terms. When she was introduced to another dog at the shelter, she was hesitant and showed signs of stress.Autumn has some challenges that her new family will need to help her with; but she's so sweet and affectionate and cute that she's totally worth the time and effort!
