My story

Gordon / Male / 4 months / 25 lbs / Mixed Breed / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids / Untested with Cats / From Manitoba / Fostered in Toronto Meet Gordon! Gordon’s foster describes him as playful, sweet, cuddly, and full of life. He’s the kind of pup who turns heads on walks with his big brown eyes and wagging tail—and then wins hearts with his snuggles and charm. This young pup who came into care eager for love, guidance, and a home to call his own. He is curious, energetic, and incredibly loving. He enjoys walks, sniffing everything in sight, exploring nature, and playing with toys—especially Kongs and chew toys. He also loves lounging around for naps and curling up beside you for pets. He’s a puppy who craves affection but can also entertain himself when needed. With familiar people, he is friendly and affectionate with people he knows. He’ll greet you by sitting politely, gazing up at you with those gorgeous eyes, and wagging his tail nonstop. He occasionally barks at strangers to say hello but shows no fear. Curious and social, he's working on his greeting manners. Gordon hasn’t been tested with kids, but based on his temperament, his foster believes he’d do well with respectful children who understand dog etiquette. Gordon would thrive in a home with access to a yard or a nearby park. A family with a flexible schedule would be ideal, so he isn’t left alone for too long during the day. He would do great in a suburban home, but he's confident in the city too and isn't bothered by traffic or noise. This boy is eager to meet other dogs, though he’s still learning social boundaries—puppy enthusiasm and all! He hasn’t lived with cats, so we can’t say for sure how he’d do, but we recommend slow, proper introductions if placed in a multi-pet home. He is about a 7/10 in terms of energy. He gets two 20-minute walks a day and loves yard play and mental enrichment like treat puzzles and lick mats. He doesn’t pull on leash and walks well using a short lead. While calm in the house after play, Gordon needs consistent physical and mental exercise to stay balanced and happy. Gordon is smart and eager to learn! He knows his name and commands like “sit,” “down,” “stay,” and “no.” He’s almost fully potty trained (expect some transition time), crate trained, and sleeps through the night. He’s still learning not to counter surf and to manage his puppy teething (he may nip, but it’s age-appropriate and improving). He is crated when left alone and settles within 5–10 minutes. He hasn’t been left uncrated due to his age. He’s comfortable being alone for a few hours but would do best in a home where someone is around more often than not. He may whine briefly after his humans leave, but he calms down quickly. A good walk beforehand helps him settle. He’s not destructive and doesn’t chew things he shouldn’t, thanks to a solid routine and access to toys. Gordon rides well in the car and stays close when off leash in enclosed areas (though we always recommend using a leash during outdoor adventures). He’s highly motivated by treats and praise, making him a joy to train. As a condition of the adoption contract, Gordon’s new family will be required to: - Ensure he has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit - Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required). - Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage. - Spay/neuter within 6 mos of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption. If you’re interested in adopting Gordon, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Gordon’s adoption fee is $1,000.
